Screed Avoided

I was gonna post my whole rant about how the devil wants you to believe in God, but then I was looking in the dictionary (as usual, to find out more about a word I already know) and I noticed how cool the word combinations at the top of the pages are. Here are the ones I liked today:
  • civil death / clamp—tighter than Old Sparky
  • coat of mail / cock—with a family "crest" of some sort, no doubt
  • cock / coconut—either a chicken dish, or a dire consequence
  • conservation of matter / consomme—primordial soup?
Anyway, the word I was looking for was continue, because I wanted to see what the tin in the middle was all about. Turns out that it's related to contain and that both come from com- plus tenere, or hold together. As expected.

Shit.

I was just reading Wired and they had a bit of Klingon in there and I understood it when I was reading it. That is really not good.
