Santa Clara County Fair
Yes! I get to use my booth a second time! Okay, seriously, folks, here I am at the Santa Clara County Fair. I'm in a hall which houses, among other things, the Urban Culture Project. There have been belly dancers:

The New York Daily News did a story about my college Japanese teacher, Tomiko West. Tomorrow, August 6th, is my sister's birthday and the 60th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. Mrs. West was there. She lost her whole family. Then she married a G.I., came over here, and spent years teaching Japanese to Americans. She's one of the happiest people I know, and generous to everyone. To come from such tragedy and make her life so incomparably happy takes tremendous heart.
